About this lesson
If you can't negotiate a favourable contract, your business is at risk, especially when you export for the first time.
Often you become excited about getting that first order, and if it is a larger company then you can be overawed (imagine getting a contract with a Fortune 500 company - they can negotiate from a position of strength, using the 'we can always use someone else' line to negotiate in their favour). This lesson will show you how to increase the chances that you end up negotiating a contract favourable to your business. It will also help you negotiate from the start in the way that you intend to, or would like to continue.
How much does it cost?

Why you should do it
Chances are that if you export, you will have to sign a contract (either of service or delivery). These contracts can be quite simple - supplying a certain number of products, for a certain price. Others are quite complex, including maintenance of product, support for customer staff and penalties for non performance.
The more you know about negotiating contracts the less risk your business will face.
Who should complete it
Anyone new to exporting that has to negotiate a contract for the first time, or those currently exporting that wish to improve their negotiation skills.
What you will end up with
A clearer idea of how to successfully negotiate a contract favourable to your business, plus some tips, tools and ideas on how to negotiate from a position of strength.
